Cute and humorous. The mom is pregnant and does non tell anybody what gender it is going to be. They decide if the infant is a boy, they will name him James. If the baby is a girl, they volition name her Sarah. The older son really wants information technology to be a boy. He tells his grandma to knit a bluish blanket and puts his dump truck and railroad train in the crib for "James" because he will like boy toys. Afterward waiting a long time, the parents finally come domicile with the babe. The son see'south that the baby is a girl and he is non even mad. He thinks she's pretty cool and ended upward being really happy that the baby is a girl.

This volume stood out to me because I went through this same thing when my mom was pregnant with my baby sister. I really wanted a baby brother and so I could go spotter his baseball and football games. I have always been a tom-male child so I didn't want a little sister because I thought she would be irksome and girly. When I finally got to see the baby for the first fourth dimension and realized it was a daughter, I was so happy. Other children become through this same matter then this is a good book to read to your kid if you are expecting another. It is of import to tell our children that regardless of the gender, when y'all run across the baby you'll be ecstatic. This book helps kids realize that its okay to want a baby brother or sister and it ends up being the reverse sex.

The text included a lot of dialogue. As a reader, y'all feel like you lot really become to know the characters better and what they desire. For example the little male child says, "I'm a spaceman, James can be my space helper" and when asked if he wants the baby to exist a boy or girl he states, "I want a James." These two quotes from him actually show that his mind is set on having a baby brother. Since it was told from the little boy's perspective, his dialogue convinced the reader he really wanted a babe brother. Someday any text has dialogue, it gives the reader a improve understanding of the characters personality because of how they speak. This volume had dialogue that gave the characters a more defined charisma.

His remarks to his mother about not wanting a sister are just funny and cute, and I could run across a real child around this age making similar remarks. I think the plot is great from the anticipation of the new kid to the baby shower where the fiddling boy looks in cloy as his female parent gets gifts that are all white, yellow and green. And then when the infant actually arrives the little boy is really taken back by how much he adores his new babe sister. I call back this is a great theme for whatsoever kid going through the same situation in their life because the fashion they may be feeling is discussed in the book. The illustrations are uncomplicated and cute but enough to continue the readers attention, especially with the mothers big pregnant belly.
